Ab Workouts Resistance Training
Let’s face it. There is no better way to contour and streamline your abs rather than using resistance. You cannot laser-target fat around your waist, but you can tone the muscles underneath. To shrink a spreading waist, resistance training helps to speed up your metabolism. Your abdominal muscles become toned and more compact as the surrounding fat disappears.
There are three critical factors in your ab workouts that will dedicate your progress – the intensity of resistance you put on the ab muscles, the duration of your ab workouts and how many times you train your abs in a week.
Therefore, a good way to add resistance to your ab workouts is to use dumbbells, stability balls or weight plates. Resistance bands are great tools for challenging the sides of your stomach as well. When you stash one in your suitcase, you have your own mini abs machine.
At first, your body weight has enough resistance to train your abs. As your stomach muscles get stronger, it’s time to gradually increase the amount of weight you are using. Make sure that you can perform ten repetitions with perform form before advancing to a heavier weight. Your goal is to do ten repetitions with about 75 percent of the maximum resistance that you could handle for one rep. Never increase your resistance of more than five percent in a single ab workout. Eventually, your stomach muscles will be toned and tightened in response to progressive increased resistance. You may also increase repetitions, sets or take less time to rest between sets to further challenge your abs.
Don’t be concerned that your abs will grow huge from resistance training. Women are especially worried that they will develop huge stomach muscles and add a couple of inches to their waistline. Listen to your body if your stomach muscles are getting stronger and more well-defined. You are doing everything in the right direction if you are not gaining more body fat.
Do you find it frustrating to achieve your desired body? It doesn’t mean that if you train your body harder, you will develop muscles quicker. To summarize, bodybuilding is all about science!
