If people follow the correct principles, then gaining muscle mass does not have to be difficult. The reason that most people fail to gain any significant muscle, is because they unwittingly do everything that guarantees failure of growing muscle.

This is entirely their fault. There are no end of muscle building workouts out there, with new ones being introduced on a regular basis. Many of them have technical terms with a lot of big scientific words thrown in, so it makes you think that those people know what they are talking about.

When it comes to gaining muscle mass, you have to realise that it is nothing complicated. The theory of gaining muscle is fairly straightforward.

Stress your body with heavy weight training workouts, which will place small tears in your muscles. Over a couple of days these tears will repair and your muscles be slightly bigger than they were before your workout. If you carry on stressing your body on a regular basis, it will have no choice but to respond by getting bigger muscles.

The word to really focus on in all this information is the word STRESS. Your body does not like to change, it is a creature of habit. You only get increased muscle mass if you force your body to do something that it is not used to. The key is to train as heavy as you can, which will ensure that your body gets the stress it requires.

If you use light weights, and exercises which only target 1 or 2 muscles, i.e. biceps curls, leg extensions, triceps presses, and so on, your body is not being stressed that much. In this case, it does not feel that it has to change that much in any way.If on the other hand you did a set of dead lifts with a heavy weight that may or may not enable you to do 15 reps, then your body is going to become very stressed. This is when your body decides to release various hormones, which it would not do under normal circumstances. These hormones start working on fixing the muscle tears that have resulted from heavy dead lifting. This is how to get muscle mass quickly.

Due to the fact that your body felt extremely uncomfortable with the stress that you placed on it, it will be better prepared for the next training workout by becoming slightly stronger and slightly bigger.

So let me be clear about things, in order to get big muscle, you need to use exercises which are capable of hitting a variety of muscles in one movement. These are commonly known as compound exercises. Dead lifts, bench press, pull ups, squats, dips, back rows, and shoulder presses are all compound movement exercises for building muscle mass.

All these are simple exercises with no complicated jargon, but they are hard to do because they take so much out of you. This is why many people avoid doing some of them. The exercises that I have shown you are the best there is for getting muscle mass quickly.
