Fast Resistance and Cardio Workout
Now more than ever it seems as though everyone is more pressed for time. As a personal trainer many of my clients constantly ask me to construct a full body muscle and cardiovascular exercise regiment. Sounds as though it is a lot to ask for, right? Well not really for me because for years I have specialized in this type of training.
In a perfect world the best way to train would be forty five minutes of cardiovascular training in the early morning and then forty five minutes of resistance training in the early evening. Unfortunately unless you are a professional athlete or are unemployed you probably don’t have the time to workout twice a day.
Therefore most people do either cardiovascular or resistance but never both. In turn the weight lifters end up getting stronger but carrying a little too much body fat while the runners end up being in great condition but lacking strength and muscle mass. This is why I came up with a solution and that is to do both resistance and cardio both at the same time and within forty five minutes. Here’s how it works:
Two day split, upper body one day and lower body the next day
Day 1 everything is to be super setted (upper body)
10 sets of: pull-ups to pushups to dips (keep your knees up during pull-ups in order to work your abs at the same time) No or minimal rest between sets
Day 2 lower body: Super setted
5 sets of: leg press to hamstring curl to lunges to seated calf raises
No or minimal rest between sets.
There are many more workout combination’s that I can give you to further accommodate your fitness goals and exercise preferences. These workouts usually take anywhere from twenty five to forty minutes. The less you rest between sets the more cardio workout you will get as well. So give it a try!
