FYI: What @Mass Nutrition means by “…it tears the muscle fibers…” is that resistance workouts create microscopic tears in the muscles, not going out and working like a mad man hoping you’ll rip your muscles to the point of injury.
In order to build muscle mass…you need to put resistance to the muscle, taking them to the point that it tears the muscle fibers, once you do that, your body will use the amino acids from protein to recover and repair. You need to use some type of weight, even if its your own body weight, to create that resistance.
