Resistance Bands: Do They Lose Elasticity?

I’m planning on getting some resistance bands for training, but I won’t if they lose their elasticity (they are quite expensive). Do they lose their elasticity? Or will they keep it forever?

Resistance bands made from all natural latex rubber do lose some elasticity over time. That cannot be changed. Ever find an old pair of socks or elastic waist underwear or pants in your dresser and stretched the band out? You can hear the elastic crackle and break. But that’s after years and years of wear, body oils and machine washing and drying.

Another major factor that will break down resistance bands is stretching them too far. It weakens the rubber.

Good News! Bodylastics just updated their bands. They all now include patented D.G.S. Anti-Snap Technology. They have a cord inside the band that does NOT interfere with your workouts, but does prevent the band from being stretched too far. Watch this video to see how it works.
