I was told I needed to do 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of resistance workouts. What does this mean? Is cardio like jogging/power walking? And is resistance like weight lifting?
And what are the best ones for each? Thanks!

60 minutes of exercise? That’s a huge chunk of time. Why not investigate some HIIT training? It’s short intervals of cardio between hi-intensity resistance exercises.
